Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountant responsibilities include accounting for rental assistance program, budget preparations, fixed asset functions, and general ledger upkeep including daily, monthly and annual fiscal, operational and clerical functions within the Agency and adherence to the policies and procedures of these operations.

 

CRITICAL ELEMENTS:

1)      Rental Assistance Program Accounting:  Assist the Asst Director of Finance with Federal, county and city funding for our rental assistance program to include applying for funds, tracking encumbered funds and processing payments.

2)      General Ledger: Monthly reconciliation of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable general ledger accounts and bank reconciliations.  Review of general ledger account coding.  Work directly with Director and Assistant Director of Finance to close out the month and prepare financial statements.

3)      Other Entities:  Assist in maintaining records for the other entities related to Bell Socialization Services, Inc. Complete journal entries, monthly close and reconciliations.

4)      Audits: Prepare audit schedules and requests. Assist Director and Assistant Director of Finance in preparation of all Agency audits.

5)      Fixed Assets. Record and update fixed asset entries, monitoring accounts payable and budget purchases to record and track physical inventory. Maintain Fixed Asset electronic transactions and permanent files.

6)      Payroll: Maintain and upkeep electronic records for timely accuracy of reporting.  Import payroll records to general ledger. Process and maintain payroll records when needed (Payroll back up).

7)      Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver financial data to the Director and Assistant Director of Finance. Verify the accuracy of all data reported.

8)      Budgets: Assist with preparation, analysis and reporting of all Agency budgets and funding source requests, including data entry and maintenance in the accounting system(s).

9)      Database, File Maintenance and Support: Maintain an organized record retrieval system, electronic storage and hard copy filing system. Responsible for understanding of accounting and electronic record systems, provide basic support and project development.

10)   Projects: Assist in and prepare various projects as requested by the Assistant Director of Finance, Director of Finance, or the Executive Director.

ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS:

1)      Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Finance, Director of Finance, or the Executive Director.

2)      Follow and support Agency philosophy and procedures.

3)      Billing:  Develop an understanding of all billing systems.

 

 

General Requirements & Skills

Minimum Qualifications: Associate with 2 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred) Additional Pennsylvania State Police background check, Credit history check. E.O.E
