A LITTLE ABOUT THE POSITION
We’re looking for a creative, design-savvy individual to help tell the story of York County and support the broader mission of the York County Economic Alliance, Downtown Inc, and related affiliates. This role provides design and content expertise across the organization, including graphic design for print and digital, photography, videography, and social media content (from branded graphics to short-form video like reels). From concept to execution, you’ll create fresh, engaging multimedia that drives tourism, economic growth, and community pride.
You must have a strong ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple projects with excellent attention to detail. Team members are expected to be responsive, organized, and work effectively both as part of a team and independently. This position reports to the Creative Director and works within the larger Events, Membership, and Marketing team.
Most importantly, you must be willing to have fun and bring a fresh perspective and design eye to the role.
HERE’S SOME OF THE DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES
- Lead/assist in the development and creation of engaging content for social media, including graphics, reels, blog posts, tracking metrics, best practices, and trend identification.
- Write clear, compelling captions, headlines, and short-form copy to accompany visual content.
- Monitor content performance and adapt strategy based on insights and engagement.
- Lead photography efforts at events and photo shoots for publications.
- Storyboard and lead videography projects for traditional videos as well as reels.
- Lead/assist graphic design for marketing materials, including print, digital, e-news, and print publications.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all content.
- Support marketing efforts related to website updates and strategic marketing development, in conjunction with the larger marketing team.
- Act as a creative member of the Marketing Department with fresh, unique ideas and a willingness to collaborate and innovate.
- Support the larger department and organization by occasionally attending events and providing support.
- Perform other duties as required.
General Requirements & Skills
WHAT BACKGROUND YOU’LL NEED
- BA in Marketing/Communications or other relevant area of study. At least 1-3 years of experience in content creation, multimedia production, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) is a must. Knowledge of MacOS and Canva.
- Experience designing and creating marketing materials, as well as videography, is a must.
- Strong eye for design, composition, and visual storytelling, as well as attention to detail.
- Knowledge of social media strategies, messaging, and algorithms.
- Experience with social media management and scheduling platforms is a plus.
- Ability to learn and utilize software or app-based systems, such as database systems, or event planning programs such as Asana.
- Strong, professional communication—both written and verbal—with colleagues, partners, volunteers, and community members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable, with strong time management skills and the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Fun, forward-thinking, and always eager to try new ways to connect and communicate.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a team-oriented mindset and openness to feedback.
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment that will involve both remote and in-person work as needed.
