Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and to coordinate total personal care for residents; performing various documentation and communication duties; ensuring safety and care of resident environment; providing residents with dignity and respect; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; supervising assigned personnel; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.
Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; possess a current unencumbered LPN license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient decision-making skills; proficient evaluation skill; thorough knowledge of current Department of Public Welfare regulations for personal care home; current CPR certification. - Interacts with residents, clients, staff, and the general public in ways that demonstrate the agency’s commitment to courtesy, service, and hospitality befitting a church related organization.
- Performs a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residentsand to coordinate total personal care for residents as follows:
- Assists with the administration of medication and treatments.
- Maintains accurate narcotic records and destroys narcotics as required; reports any narcotic discrepancies to supervisor.
- Performs routine administrative tasks, such as completing lab slips, scheduling appointments and transportation, preparing podiatry lists and maintenance requests.
- Admits, transfers, and discharges residents following physician’s orders and in accordance with Agency policy.
- Monitors all lab work to assure that all testing is done in compliance with physician’s orders and state and federal regulations; consults with the physician regarding abnormal results; follows through with suggested and approved actions.
- Notifies physician of any changes in condition based on the evaluation.
- Administers professional services such as Foley care, dressing applications and changes, hot and cold packs, oxygen therapy, etc. using appropriate aseptic technique
