General Responsibilities

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and to coordinate total personal care for residents; performing various documentation and communication duties; ensuring safety and care of resident environment; providing residents with dignity and respect; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; supervising assigned personnel; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; possess a current unencumbered LPN license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient decision-making skills; proficient evaluation skill; thorough knowledge of current Department of Public Welfare regulations for personal care home; current CPR certification. Refer to separate analysis for physical requirements of essential functions with or without accommodation.

Essential Duties

  2. Interacts with residents, clients, staff, and the general public in ways that demonstrate the agency’s commitment to courtesy, service, and hospitality befitting a church related organization.
  3. Performs a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residentsand to coordinate total personal care for residents as follows:
  4. Assists with the administration of medication and treatments.
  5. Maintains accurate narcotic records and destroys narcotics as required; reports any narcotic discrepancies to supervisor.
  6. Performs routine administrative tasks, such as completing lab slips, scheduling appointments and transportation, preparing podiatry lists and maintenance requests.
  7. Admits, transfers, and discharges residents following physician’s orders and in accordance with Agency policy.
  8. Monitors all lab work to assure that all testing is done in compliance with physician’s orders and state and federal regulations; consults with the physician regarding abnormal results; follows through with suggested and approved actions.
  9. Notifies physician of any changes in condition based on the evaluation.
  10. Administers professional services such as Foley care, dressing applications and changes, hot and cold packs, oxygen therapy, etc. using appropriate aseptic technique
