Manager of Institutional Giving (Part-Time)

The York County History Center, a cultural nonprofit organization committed to ensuring history is representative and accessible, seeks an experienced development professional to craft compelling grants and fundraising materials for companies. This position plays a significant role in the ongoing effort to transform the organization into a community and tourism destination.

The Manager is a member of a dynamic Advancement team that strives to raise over $800,000 annually. Candidates for this role should demonstrate exceptional project and time management, superior writing and oral communication skills, and ability to coordinate grant applications with assistance from multiple stakeholders. Capability to synthesize information and interpret data in a clear and compelling narrative with identified outcomes is important. Additional responsibilities include cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Foundations and Corporations to be successful.

Prospective applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, 2+ years’ experience as a fund development officer or related position in grant writing or corporate support. Ability to work flexible hours on occasion is necessary. Interested candidates need demonstrated experience in CMS, Microsoft Suite, Zoom, and audio/visual equipment. Candidates must be extremely organized, self-motivated and help foster a collaborative team environment. A valid driver’s license and background check is required.

Summary:

The York County History Center embarked upon an exciting, innovative and important project to establish a cultural destination in downtown York city that spurs economic development and connects historical assets throughout the county. To realize this ambitious goal, the History Center is assembling a dynamic team to assist in delivering high quality history programs and experiences to attract people throughout the region.

Key to the History Center’s success is a strategic innovator in the role of Manager of Institutional Giving. This important position plays an integral team role in the York County History Center’s efforts to raise over $800,000 annually through grants, Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and corporate/business partners. The Manager will have direct responsibility for securing support from foundations, government agencies, as well as local businesses and corporations. This individual will report to the VP of Advancement and work closely with members of the History Center Board and staff to strengthen the organization’s foundation and corporate/business donor base.

Essential Duties:

  • With the Advancement team, develop an annual institutional giving plan to support the History Center’s array of priority activities
    • Work with appropriate divisions/departments to develop cases for support, budgets in consultation with program, finance, and executive staff, boiler plate proposals, and sponsorship packet(s)
    • Edit and write compelling, proposals and grants, mid-term, and final reports for institutional funders
  • Create, manage and benchmark a portfolio of grant opportunities
    • Maintain calendar of proposals and reports and research new opportunities
    • Utilize database moves management to record work accomplished and set future steps
  • Manage EITC Program by renewing EITC application, work with Board to identify and solicit eligible for educational programs
  • Secure business partnerships in conjunction with membership to enhance benefits
  • In concert with VP of Advancement, establish business portfolios for board members to cultivate, solicit, and steward
  • Work with Advancement team to develop and implement stewardship plan for institutional relationships
  • In concert with the Director of PR & Marketing, ensure sponsorship benefit fulfilment and proper recognition occur
  • Be a resource for the advancement, program, and marketing team

Outcomes:

  • Establish a list of current and prospective grantors, sponsors and EITC participants
    • Manage grant calendar including proposal submission and report tracking in coordination with program managers and directors
    • Expand EITC participation or support for educational programs
    • Conduct regular outreach with businesses create new and strengthen existing relationships
  • Increase institutional giving year over year by 3-5%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations preferred
  • Two years or more experience in grant writing or corporate solicitation with proven results
  • Exemplary writing and editing skills
  • Excellent relationship and communication skills
  • Excels in collaborative working environments
  • Proficient in computer skills including database management
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Flexible, professional & friendly approach and disposition
  • Ability to work periodic evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
