ABOUT CPC'S WIC PROGRAM:

 

The Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) program offers a variety of benefits to help keep children and expectant mothers healthy. This free program is available to income eligible pregnant women, women who recently delivered, infants and children up to age five. The CPC WIC program provides free health screenings, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, supplemental nutritious foods, and referrals to other programs and services.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The WIC Nutritionist is responsible for providing nutrition education and breastfeeding promotion and support. Some of the training provided will include determining income and nutritional eligibility, hematological testing, anthropometric measurements, strengthening assessment skills, and implementing guided goal setting techniques with WIC participants. In addition, the WIC Nutritionist will perform tasks, such as, determining nutritional risks and creating supplemental food packages. Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Education Coordinator and Breastfeeding Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will possess counseling skills, excellent customer service, communication and organization skills; be a team player; and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Previous WIC experience is preferred but not required. Occasional local travel required.

General Requirements & Skills

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year institution, with emphasis on one of the following: Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Nutritional Sciences, Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, Community Dietetics, or Dietetics required.
