SpiriTrust Lutheran is now hiring a PT Day Resident Care Supervisor.

12 hour shifts, 3am-3pm, 1 shift per week, In 6 weeks it is 1 weekend, 1 Wednesday and 1 Friday.

General Responsibilities

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents; performing various documentation and communication duties; ensuring safety and care of resident environment; providing residents with dignity and respect; achieving goals as established in the department’s annual operating plan; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; supervising assigned personnel; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.

Essential Duties

  1. Supports the mission and values of SpiriTrust Lutheran which is: SpiriTrust Lutheran , witnessing to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provides exceptional health, human, and senior living services by supporting persons in achieving an optimal quality of life.
  2. Interacts with residents, clients, staff, and the general public in ways that demonstrate the agency’s commitment to courtesy, service, and hospitality befitting a church related organization.
  3. Performs a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents as follows:
    1. Administers professional skilled services; assists with physician visits, physical examinations, and chart reviews; provides direct nursing care as needed.
    2. Coordinates and delegates emergency response and care to the independent living residents.
    3. Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the physician using current, accepted standards of nursing practice and quality assurance, as needed.
    4. Ensures that Schedule II Narcotic Records are destroyed for shift; reports any discrepancies to the Director of Nursing.
    5. Receives physician’s orders for treatments and medications; acknowledges and handles orders promptly; delegates and prioritizes when appropriate.
    6. Evaluates programs, systems, routines, and assignments for efficiency and effectiveness; recommends appropriate changes as needed.
    7. Informs resident’s attending physician and family when there is a change in the resident’s condition or other pertinent information regarding the resident’s status.
    8. Performs a comprehensive nursing assessment upon admission and with any change in condition.

 

  1. Performs various documentation and communication duties as follows:
    1. Maintains accurate and comprehensive resident information; charts progress notes on all residents in a descriptive manner.
    2. Receives and provides verbal and written reports from prior to on-coming shift supervisors.

 

  1. Ensures safety and care of resident environment as follows:
    1. Assures that all nursing work areas are kept clean, free of clutter, and are adequately stocked.
    2. Performs all tasks in a safe manner, following established safety and infection control practices and procedures, including universal precautions and proper hand washing technique.
  2. Reads disaster and fire emergency plans and elopement standard frequently; performs assigned responsibility in an emergency and assumes a leadership role.
    1. Reports all incidents/accidents to self, resident, or others immediately; ensures that all reports are properly completed; initiates investigation and completes follow up as indicated.

 

  1. Establishes an environment which promotes dignity and respect for residents as follows:
    1. Prevents, identifies, investigates, and reports suspected or actual abuse, neglect, exploitation, and improper use of chemical and physical restraints, in accordance with Agency standards.
    2. Knows and respects all resident rights, while maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information.
  2. Provides administrative oversight in the absence of the Skilled Care Center Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Assistant Director of Nursing.
  3. Oversees employees in the timekeeping process, ensuring accurate submission of data:
    1. Follows up with employees under their supervision to ensure timekeeping process is complete and submitted accurately with no errors.
    2. Educates employees regarding requirements for timekeeping, missed punches, consequences, etc.
  4. Enters department’s timekeeping data accurately and submits data within practice guidelines.
  5. Evaluates data related to resources and program and makes appropriate corrective actions with employees, if necessary, to ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, and agency standards.
  6. Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  7. Interacts with all colleagues in ways that assist one another in the successful performance of their duties.
  8. Provides support, encouragement, and direction to the individuals under his/her direct supervision; acts as a resource for staff in problem solving and properly communicates within the established chain of command.
  9. Creates an atmosphere that promotes a positive and respectful work environment.
  10. Abides by the current laws and organizational standards and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
  11. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all Agency standards, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e., HIPAA, OSHA, etc.; insures that the department and all personnel adhere to the same.
  12. Directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:
    1. Orients and makes provisions for the proper training of supervisory staff; regularly reviews the competence and performance of this group.
    2. Makes certain that all relevant information is properly communicated to the supervisory group in order to give them every opportunity to perform their duties properly.
    3. Organizes, schedules, and distributes work among assigned personnel.
    4. Conducts regular meetings with supervisory staff.
    5. Works closely with the supervisory group in implementing an effective human resource management program to insure a competent, motivated group of employees.
    6. Administers HR Standards of Practice and other procedures as established by agency standards.
  13. Adheres to all listed competencies for the position.
  14. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
  15. Responds to inquiries or requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given timeframes and within established policy.
  16. Completes educational requirements as mandated by state and federal agencies and to maintain competencies.

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: Possess a current unencumbered RN license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Skill(s): Speak and understand English; proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; proficient decision-making skills; proficient assessment skill; thorough knowledge of current Department of Health regulations; current CPR certification; demonstrated supervisory skills. Experience: A minimum of one (1) years’ experience in related positions normally required.
