Description
Job Title: Class A CDL Driver
Job Reports To: Transportation Manager
Exempt or Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
Job Summery
Responsible for transporting products to the customer by Tractor Trailer in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Make deliveries to customers’ locations in an efficient and timely manner.
- Understand the Rules and Regulations under the FMCSA.
- Conduct proper pre and post trip inspections to the truck and trailer daily.
- Understand the use of the bill of ladings or other paperwork as assigned.
- Obey all laws pertaining to proper truck routes used by the type equipment being used.
- Handle the truck in a professional manner at all times.
- Be sure the truck is secured (locked) whenever you are more than 25 feet or the truck is out of sight.
- Ensure that the proper cargo protection is used to transport freight.
- Report any truck problems promptly to management.
- Follow all docking procedures necessary at customers’ locations.
- Get the proper rest prior to arriving for work
Other Functions:
- Attend Quarterly Safety Meetings
- Check Fluid Levels Daily
- Fuel Truck Daily

The employee is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required and assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED; CDL Training Certification
- A minimum of 2 years verifiable driving experience operating vehicles and equipment identified below
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- A valid, current CDL Class A driver’s license
- Physically qualified to drive (Pass DOT physical examination for CDL drivers)
Machines/Tools/Equipment:
Manual and Automatic Single axel tractor and 53’ trailers
Working Conditions:
Must be able to drive in all weather conditions; significant time spent operating a motor vehicle; Extensive sitting; Exposure to extreme weather conditions and variations in temperature.
