20-hour Talent & Innovation Defense Ecosystem (TIDE) Welding training to start on Tuesday, May 19th at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (Greenfield Campus).

This course (including equipment and tools) is NO-COST under the TIDE grant for all Trainees (@ $4,000 value). Additionally, this cohort will be open enrollment for all Defense Manufacturers in our region, as well as our recent pre-Apprenticeship graduates and eligible jobseekers interested in pursuing a career in defense manufacturing. *Space is limited*

TIDE Basic Welder

Prepare your workforce for the demands of modern defense manufacturing in Central Pennsylvania. The Manufacturers’ Association’s Talent & Innovation Defense Ecosystem (TIDE) Project, which supports the U.S. Maritime and Defense Industrial Bases, delivers hands-on, skill-focused training to help meet the critical demands of modern defense manufacturing in our region. Whether you are a defense employer looking to skill up your existing workforce, or an individual interested in working in defense manufacturing, this course will help build highly capable and innovation-driven talent for our regional defense manufacturers.

Participants in this entry-level welding basics course will learn:

  • Basics in SMAW, Mig, Tig, and Flux Core welding
  • Blueprint reading
  • Welding safety protocols
  • Proper equipment setup and usage

Dates: May 19 – July 23, 2026 (10 weeks)

Times: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 5:00pm – 9:00pm
